Three Horseshoes Morris dances at St Nicholas church, Great Kimble 1st October 2016.
We are organising a Flower Festival to be held on 1st and 2nd of October 2016 at the beautiful 14th Century Church of St Nicholas, Great Kimble in aid of the much needed internal refurbishment project.
The church has a rich history. John Hampden refused to pay ship money on the steps of this Church in 1635, which ultimately led to the start of the Civil War. The building has an Aylesbury font dating back to 1172 which is still in use today.
Currently the Church has no running water, no toilet or kitchen facilities and very limited heating. We are aware of the need to conserve and repair this beautiful building but we also need to enhance it so future generations will also be able to enjoy this very special building.
The project’s aim is to create a welcoming, warm and flexible interior which will provide a wonderful multi -functional resource for Worship, use by the Great Kimble Church of England School and also for wider community functions.
